"Study 2" 2024

A3

Medium: Oil on 300g Cobra oil paper

Artist: Victor Seehund

Study 2 (2024) by Victor Seehund is a raw, intimate distillation of his signature tension between precision and fracture. Painted on A3-sized 300g Cobra oil paper, this piece carries the immediacy of a sketch but the psychological intensity of a finished portrait. The face is unmistakably alive—eyes piercing, mouth set—but it’s also interrupted by bold, gestural distortions and strokes that claw through the surface.

What makes this study so striking is its unfiltered vulnerability. There’s no background to hide in, no polish to soften the impact. The subject emerges from a void of black hair and white jacket—rendered with loose, confident brushwork that gives the impression of something captured mid-thought, mid-transformation. Cracks of raw canvas peek through the paint, like emotion leaking through armor.

This is a face that’s been lived in, not idealized. The scar-like streaks of paint across the forehead and eyes don’t obscure—they reveal. It’s Seehund’s visual language of emotional rupture: the subject isn’t falling apart, but being revealed more truthfully through the break.

Study 2 is a collector’s glimpse into the artist’s process—not just technical, but psychological. It’s immediate, fierce, and haunting. A quiet explosion of presence on paper.
