From Behind the Eyes of RaawArt:
RaawArt began not with a business plan, but with a feeling —a quiet moment in childhood when Elle Frey stood among canvases and felt something ancient stir. She didn’t know the names or styles, only that the art spoke to her spirit. That instinct stayed with her, shaped by years spent around artists, watching them create not for fame, but from the soul.
The gallery’s name was first brought to life in 2012 by Caroline Aim, a Paris-born curator and Sotheby’s alumna. In the heart of Tribeca, she built RaawArt into a bold cultural space—uniting artists, collectors, and ideas. After a decade of silence, Elle—Caroline’s mentee revived the gallery with renewed purpose in 2024.
“I picked up RaawArt with reverence—but also with vision.”
– Elle Frey
Today, RaawArt is a space for intentional, soulful collecting. It connects artists and collectors through shared intuition, legacy, and meaning, championing work that speaks beyond the surface.

Art is more than passion — it’s Elle Frey’s heritage. As the owner of RaawArt, she continues a legacy spanning generations, tracing back to her great-grandparents, Donald and Serine Bonnist, who brought Donald Art Publishing to the U.S. to make fine art more accessible. Elle was raised among artists, collectors, and curators, which fostered her intuitive eye for curation and instilled in her a deep appreciation for creative expression. With a business education from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business and a minor in Art History, Elle merges her connection to the art world with expertise in curation and commerce.
