“Pre-Clin Study 1 “

Dimensions: 16” x 18”

Medium: Oil and resin on shaped panel

Artist: Greg Busch

A woman’s chest, delicately rendered, soft and serene. But nestled just above her breast: a black lab mouse, poised and watchful. Pre-Clin Study 1 isn’t about nudity — it’s about vulnerability, control, and the quiet intersections between intimacy and experimentation.

The panel curves with intention, subtly shifting the boundaries of what is seen and what is left out. The use of oil and resin creates a slick, hyperreal finish, echoing the clinical sterility behind the title — Pre-Clin, as in pre-clinical trial. As in object. As in the subject.

Busch offers no answers here, only tension. Beauty and discomfort. Tenderness and implication. The figure may be calm, but the scene is charged — a surreal balance between desire, danger, and documentation.

This is a small work with surgical precision and conceptual weight. It lingers.
